History of Football in the Park

19:00 — 21:00

A Norwood Society guided walk about football before the World Cup and the history of Crystal Palace Park.

On the eve of the 2018 World Cup visit the Crystal Palace Park to learn of its unique place in football history. Discover the lives of the men who played there in the 1860s and 1870s and their part in the formation of the Football Association and the creation of the FA Cup.

Visit the site of twenty FA Cup finals, England-Scotland internationals and the birthplace of the Crystal Palace football club in 1905.

Meet your guide, local historian Stuart Hibberd, at the Penge entrance to the park on Thicket Road.

Free but donations to the Norwood Society welcome.
