My Beat Our Rhythm

16:30 — 17:00

Artistic Director Temujin Gill and Associate Choreographer, Sunanda Biswas, have created a site specific piece for the community to perform at the Festival.

It is a vibrant and diverse dance spectacular with the local groups – ASKI from Thornton Heath, Oasis Academy in Coulsdon, and a live drumming element from Penge Samba Drummers.

Over just seven short rehearsals, Grounded Movement together with these talented and generous groups, have envisaged a fun and eclectic programme of participation, learning skills, collaboration and performance.

The theme of this community production, My Beat Our Rhythm, is expression and connection. It has been created from the sharing of rhythms and dance that moves the performers as individuals, into a collective dance piece that celebrates the positive energy created when people come together. Grounded Movement have also drawn into the mix, their own blend of original street and social dances.
